Dog Vs. NO Dog

I'd like to start by thanking the Westminster Dog show and Grand Rapids press for officially starting my husband on the obsessive path down wanting a dog AGAIN!! For those of you who don't know, we are not dog people. We like the idea of a dog, but do not, at this time, have the resources or time to properly raise another living thing in our house. This revelation has escaped my husband after getting rid of our last dog, Jada only 8 months ago. Jada was a good dog - she liked to be outside, and was known to frighten away solicitors and skateboarding kids who liked to trespass on private property. We got Jada only 9 months removed from getting rid of our first dog Sadie. Sadie lasted only two months in our home, partly to her crazy temperament and me being at home with a newborn and a 15 month old. And after each parting with the dogs, we had no regrets. We talked at length about how we aren't dog people!! So, back to my thanks at the start, b/c of the dog show, he's back to wanting a dog. And b/c of GR Press he had an opportunity to price full bread dogs - thank you very much. Oh, I forgot to thank the internet, where now we are able to contact breeders without having to pick up the phone (which Josh wouldn't do)!! Today he contacted a breeder of his new favorite dog - a NEAPOLITAN MASTIFF. I capitalized the name of the dog - b/c they are huge!!!!! You can't just feed them dog food - you have to give them raw chicken - RAW CHICKEN! And who, you ask, would be feeding this dog, ohhhhh, your's truly!!

The question I pose to all you faithful readers is this, what's your vote, Dog or no dog??

P.S. - I'm going to get in so much trouble for this post!!!!

I love Dogs. But i agree with you. the thought of a dog is so much better then a reality. i'm sure as soon as josh and i are in a place where we can have a dog, we will get one and then i'll be the one posting the blogs....

no dog.
with kids, you have enough hair, poop, and other various messes to take care of. do you really want to wipe salmonella laced chicken blood off the floor?
hi jess.
it's meggan [green]
i vote for getting the dog when you have children old enough to help [alot] to keep up with it.

NNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!! What do you think my vote is? Erin is "Amen"ing my NO! He hates dogs! If the kids could help, I might cave but don't give in, Jess. Stand strong! Be courageous! I know a brother should defend his brother's perspective but Jay went with Josh so I'll help you out. Keep the dog away! OK, I'm done...

I thought more about this while driving to work this morning...and is buying RAW CHICKEN for THE DOG really a good thing???? I mean, it's one thing to buy a $10 bag a dogfood, but chicken - NO WAY!!! Yes, I still confirm my vote - NO DOG!!!

And John is right dogs are a pain the rump when you're gone for a few days!!!

Well here is the deal. Ange and I love you guys so much, but our answer is NO dog. I mean think about it, poor cats, poor previous dogs, and most importantly poor Jess. I can't picture Jess running around all day with 3 little rugrats and on top of that screaming at a dog. I mean it would be sweet, but I have a better option for you. If you guys move to NJ Ange and I will purchase a dog. That way you can always come over to see it.

wah, wah, "poor jess," guys have needs too (haha); nice big yard for the kids and dog to play in...if you can find a nice puppy class where the dog can socialize early, basic commands and people/dog interaction is no big deal. If you get a good dog (good chance from a breeder) and train it early, then there's no problem. I'm sure you don't HAVE to buy raw chickens. josh could take it to work; make it his dog.

I like how J thinks a puppy class solves everything... financial problems? take a puppy class, no food in the fridge? take a puppy class. but I stand strong in what i say. a dog is the way to go. ok bye.

puppy class was $60 for six weeks...and if you serious about having a family dog, that's a small price to pay. you're done maxwell

i was not suggesting that puppy class was too expensive, i was suggesting that it was your solution... it was a joke ya rookcook. ok bye.
